I'm Jamaica Perry, actor, artist and entrepreneur. I'm from Little Rock, AR, and I've lived in Los Angeles, California for 17 years. I came to LA 17 years ago to attend Grad School at UCLA. Shortly, after I graduated in 2007 I found myself entering the work force instead of acting. The world was in the beginning of a recession, and I needed to get a real job. After spending years in the workforce with no real plan of how to get out I became depressed. And when it got too much for me to bear, I sought help.
Going to therapy changed my life. It helped me see things that I couldn't see. I realized all the possibilities that were out there for me, and I begin planning my life. One of the things I've always wanted to do was start my own business. So I did. I wanted to create a brand that was creative, passionate and joyful. I've always been an artist so I knew I wanted to make all the designs myself. Before I got into acting I really wanted to be a fashion designer. I used to make my own doll clothes when I was a child. Who knows? Maybe that is where Splendorchic is headed.
I'm so proud of the work I've done so far, and I have a really long way to go. This is my first business, so I'm still learning from my mistakes. I can't wait to look back years from now to see how far I've come. I hope that you will share that journey with me.
